Download Reddit videos with audio

Reddit hosts videos on a domain called v.redd.it and stores the video and audio as separate streams. That's why Reddit's own "Save" button gives you a silent video — the audio never gets attached. Clip merges both streams properly so the file you save actually has sound.

  1. Open the Reddit post containing the video.
  2. Tap Share → Copy link on the post (works for new Reddit, old Reddit, mobile, and Reddit apps).
  3. Paste the link into the input above and click Get video.

Does it work for crossposts and old Reddit URLs?

Yes — Clip handles reddit.com, old.reddit.com, v.redd.it direct links, and crosspost URLs. The underlying video file is the same regardless of which URL form you paste.

Why does Reddit's own "Save" button drop the audio?

Reddit serves video and audio as separate HLS streams to save bandwidth. Their built-in download grabs only the video stream because muxing the two server-side would cost them money. Clip does the merge client-side via FFmpeg.

What about NSFW or quarantined subreddits?

Public videos in those subreddits work as long as the URL is publicly accessible. Subreddits requiring a login won't.
